The project provided for the reconstruction of the I-95/ Okeechobee Boulevard interchange from south of Australian Boulevard to Congress Avenue and replaced the outdated and dysfunctional existing clover-leaf interchange design with a new double curved box girder flyover bridge (approximately 900 LF).
Work also included providing a new eight-laned concrete girder bridge over I-95, reconstruction of all on and off ramps, new signalized intersections on Okeechobee Boulevard both east and west of I-95 at the on/ off-ramp terminals which included triple left turn movements, the addition of auxiliary and general purpose lanes on I-95 in each direction with two-lane on/ off ramps, and milling and resurfacing of existing I-95.

Ramp bridge on a sharp 490-foot radius curve carrying traffic from westbound Okeechobee Boulevard over I-95 and Okeechobee Boulevard to southbound I-95.

Removal of existing loop ramps in the northeast, northwest and southwest quadrants and reconstructing the loop ramp in the southeast quadrant.

Substructure consisting of end bents and hammerhead single column piers on pre-stressed concrete piling.

Sound walls, decorative MSE walls, decorative precast gravity walls, jack and bores, and extensive landscaping.

Complex MOT schemes were required to ensure traffic was afforded access to Okeechobee Boulevard and I-95 throughout the 18-month accelerated construction schedule.

DMG Value Engineering concept to provide full superstructure replacement in lieu of hydrodemolition and bridge jacking.
